the ripe persimmon

Cause there’s nothing sweeter. Hold on to your corn cobs as we embark on a journey into the delectable and delightful world of vegan eats. More than just lettuce and a slice of tomato my friend!

Crazy for Cinnamon September 21, 2008

Cinnamon Rolls, from ‘The Joy of Vegan Baking’. I haven’t had these for a good two years, since going vegan. They’re better than I remembered. Yum!

We all need a little protein September 17, 2008

Tofu, marinated in soy sauce, lemon juice, black pepper, paprika, garlic and ginger and baked (oh yeah). Served with token iceberg lettuce and cannelloni beans a la can’t-remember-the-ingredients-but-it-was-something-tomatoey.

No. I don’t mean a latte. Or a cappuccino. I mean a flat white. Pure, simple and unadulterated.

Thank the caffeine gods for those good folk at Sacred in Carnaby street – providing all of London’s discerning addicts with the good stuff, antipodean style.

Salad, guacamole and strawberry chocolate cake. August 22, 2008

Orange, cucumber and olive salad (with lemon juice, mint, garlic, salt and pepper)

Guacamole (avocado, lemon juice, minced onion, tomato, coriander, salt and pepper). This is the best guacamole I’ve ever made! So good with the minced onion…

Mum’s good ol’ vegan chocolate cake. Topped with strawberries. Mmm.

This pate rocks! If you haven’t got a Veganomicon, go buy it. Then make this.

It might not be much to look at, but it’s good! Onion, olive oil, mushrooms, garlic, salt, tarragon, thyme, black pepper, balsamic vinegar, cannelloni beans and walnuts. Savoury goodness.
